About the Nursery
Welcome to the Nursery, the first stage of Wedmore First School Academy.
Our aim is to make children feel nutured as well as stimulated in a warm and friendly environment in which learning through play is the cornerstone of our ethos.
We offer safe and secure rooms with appropriate provision for two year olds and three to four year olds in our newly renovated building. Our Nursery offers opportunities for children to explore, investigate and develop their creativity within a stimulating learning environment. We ensure that there is a variety of curriculum activities available each day.
We encourage free-flow play play between indoor and outdoor areas
Our activites are often initiated by the children. following children's interests, with a half termly theme. However we also initiate structured play with adult-led activites for phonic and number work; we focus on early literacy and numeracy skills throughout sessions which are linked appropriately to the development stage of each child.
We foster strong links with the reception classes at Wedmore First School Academy; our nursery pupils are involved with the Foundation Stage harvest service and nativity performance. We also benefit from outside visits from drama and music speicailists and enjoy access to the excellent resources of the main school such as the activity trail for PE, team games, music and drama. We can also offer forest school provision on the school grounds, activites in the school garden and swimming lessons with a qualified instructor in the school's swimming pool.
