Welcome to Wedmore First School

We hope that you will enjoy browsing through our site and find lots of useful information about our fantastic school.

The website provides you with a taste of our school and demonstrates the ways in which we can promote your child’s personal and educational development and encourage them to achieve their full potential.

Our philosophy is simple – to provide children with a safe, secure, and happy learning experience. Working alongside pupils, their parents, and carers, we not only seek to give our children a sound educational grounding, but to stimulate and challenge them and enhance their self-confidence. We value the whole child and it is important to us that our children learn self-worth and feel secure in the belief that what they feel matters, what they say is heard and that what they do has consequences for themselves and the people with whom they live, learn, and work. We teach each child to value and respect the views and rights of others in the school and in the wider community with which we maintain close links.

Our school has plenty of space outdoors to learn and play, its extensive grounds include a garden with raised beds and polytunnel, a dedicated Forest School area, a conservation area with a pond, and an outdoor swimming pool. Our nursery class also has access to all outdoor and indoor facilities. We also have access to the adjacent outstanding sports facilities which include a multi-purpose sports area with an all-weather surface. We actively encourage all children to take part in physical activities and the local league for a range of sporting events. We are proud of our success in this local league, holding the record for winning teams. Indoors, classrooms are stimulating and have walls filled with vibrant, colourful displays which support the children’s learning.

Our website gives a wealth of information about the school but there is nothing better than a visit to see the children and staff in action. Please feel free to visit the school, meet the team and experience our ethos first-hand.

We are very proud of our school and hope it is one in which you would be happy to place your child. I would be delighted to show you around. Please contact the school office by email or phone to make an appointment.
